POSITION OVERVIEW
Tall Oaks is seeking a dependable, personable, and safety-minded Boat Captain to operate our pontoon boat during scheduled events at our waterfront venue in Sheffield Village.
This is a seasonal, event-based position running May 1 through October 31, weather permitting. The ideal candidate is confident operating independently, communicates well with guests and staff, and is comfortable working in a busy event environment while providing a welcoming guest experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Safely operate the pontoon boat during scheduled events
- Confidently dock and undock the boat independently
- Follow all boating and venue safety procedures
- Provide a friendly and professional experience for guests
- Communicate clearly with guests and Tall Oaks staff
- Maintain strong awareness of guests, surroundings, weather, and water conditions
- Remain calm and professional when handling unexpected situations
- Address and de-escalate guest concerns when necessary
- Ensure the boat is clean and ready for each event
REQUIREMENTS
- 5+ years of boating experience preferred
- Comfortable operating a boat independently
- Confident docking and undocking without assistance
- Strong situational awareness and communication skills
- Friendly and personable demeanor
- Comfortable interacting with large groups
- Able to remain calm and professional in a high-energy event environment
- Dependable, responsible, and punctual
- Strong commitment to guest safety
