Rahul is a Senior Project Engineer with Underwriters Laboratories. Based out of Brea, CA, Rahul and his team are responsible for certifications for all medical devices that come to market through his company.

>> My name is Rahul Baria. I am currently a senior project engineer at Underwriters Laboratory in the Health Sciences division. I do medical devices' certifications for a living right now. So we certify everything that's under the sun, electrical devices, from [inaudible] pacemakers, x-rays. Anything you think comes to us for certifications. We are the leaders in USA. Without our mark, it cannot be shipped out and to the hospitals. So all the medical devices which is made goes through a set standard, which is basics set by a standard, and then the standard is followed, then we test it and to make sure the construction and everything is to the minimum, bare minimum for safety. A busy day always comes with a lot of coordination with different teams. In any organization I have worked with, it's always coordination, team work, and performing different tasks of different levels during the day, from phone calls to clients, to helping out your juniors and technicians, to evaluating product, learning new things. So one thing I can say is learning never stops. You have to keep going.
