Associate Professor and Undergraduate Coordinator, Western Connecticut State University

Well, my name is Doctor Jeanette Lupinacci. I am from the greater Danbury community area. Currently working at Western Connecticut State University, in the Department of Nursing. I am a, undergraduate coordinator in our nursing program, so what that means is that I basically help to place students in the clinical setting. Also, work closely with the department chair in addressing any student issues or concerns that they might have, either in class or in clinical. As a coordinator helping to secure like clinical spots in various clinical agencies that are throughout the state of Connecticut, and where we have contracts. Work on developing some of those relationships, trying to get some new clinical sites if we can, asking for contracts, making sure, another role that I do too is to make sure that students are abiding by the rules and regulations of being able to go to clinical. So, making sure that background checks have been completed, health requirements have been fulfilled. I work as an associate professor at WestConn. I teach primarily in the undergraduate program, but also a little bit in the graduate program. So, you know, we're teaching them the basics. How to develop relationship with the patient, how to do basic care with patients, how to start planning care for them as far as treatment plans, or working closely with the physician and why that's important, and how to collaborate with multidisciplinary types of team members, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and that kind of stuff. And we're showing them the didactic portion, but then also embedding the clinical portion into it so that they get to kind of practice.
