Holocaust Museum LA is seeking an Exhibits Coordinator to work with the Vice President of Collections and Exhibits; the Chief Impact Officer; and the Museum’s Archive team. This position will be responsible for managing the rotation of special exhibitions within the Museum, both those curated by Holocaust Museum LA, as well as visiting from other institutions. This role involves coordinating all aspects of exhibit transport, outreach, and promotional activities, and ensuring smooth operations for exhibitions at the Museum. This position with report to the Vice President of Collections and Exhibits.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and manage logistics for both traveling Holocaust Museum LA curated exhibits and in-house temporary exhibits brought in from other institutions, ensuring smooth coordination and efficient transitions.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Collections and Exhibits, Chief Impact Officer, visiting curators, graphic designers, and HMLA’s education and operations teams to meet exhibit requirements.
- Develop and assemble materials for exhibit hosts, including educational and promotional resources for traveling exhibits.
- Oversee shipping, packing, and transportation logistics to ensure the safe and efficient delivery, installation, and deinstallation of exhibits.
- Coordinate with external vendors, shippers, partner institutions, and stakeholders to facilitate exhibit movement, set-up, and presentation.
- Manage schedules, budgets, and logistics for exhibit installation and deinstallation, working closely with all involved teams to ensure seamless execution.
Qualifications:
- Experience and study in Museum Studies, Library Science, Archival and Preservation, or History related field with training in archival principles and practices.
- Professional experience in a directly related field of work such as history, archive, exhibition or museum work, that involved working with the collection.
- Strong organizational skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness in managing complex logistics and coordinating exhibit-related tasks
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under deadlines.
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365
WORKING SCHEDULE:
Monday – Friday, 9am – 5pm. This position may involve working an evening or weekend from time to time.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
The Exhibits Coordinator position has an annual salary range of $48,000 – $50,000, based on experience and other qualifications. Generous PTO includes vacation and paid holidays, and health benefits.
